My first try

Hey everyone. This is my first try at getting critique for a photo. I know this is not my best, but it is my best with my new camera. I tried to get the ducks, but they wouldn't get close enough to me.

You need to take it a step further and do some PP on it. Over half the picture is grass. Crop it, sharpen it, bring up the blacks, etc.

I like it - the color and texture of the image is interesting, composition is pretty good but the heads touching the opposite shore are a bother. I could also do with a bit less grass in the foreground.

But not bad.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I am still a little wary of over processing my pictures. Hopefully, I will be able to get to some of my better spots soon so that I can get some shots worth spending some time on.

Turn on image editing. It helps for cc.

They look like Greylag Geese but the black on the beak is making me question my ID

not bad. not great, but much better than most people when they first start out.

you say you're wary of overprocessing, but with all your pictures, the least you should do is crop and make sure the exposure is correct (i hope you're shooting RAW!)

You should also make sure the shoreline doesn't intersect the heads of the taller geese.
