Is anyone using them?

While looking for a pair of stripboxes, I came across the ones made by Creative Light. Unfortunately, the opinions about them seem to be scarce.

So far I read that they are probably made by Profoto and that they are not bad, but worse than the ones from their big brother.

What appeal to me in them is that it seems you can use them for both flash and continuous lights. Right now, I'm interested in using them with speedlights only. But I know there are several projects coming my way later this year that would probably require continuous lights and it would be great if I could reuse the modifiers. Another interesting aspect is the speedring for speedlights. It allows the modifier to rotate 360 degrees. Although crazily expensive for speedlight speedring ($100), the cost is offset by the price of modifiers (about $70 cheaper than Photoflex's ones).

I originally was planning to buy Photoflex Halfdome2 as I already have their softbox and quite like it. So if anyone has experience usng both CL softboxes and the ones from Photoflex, please chime in.

Personally, I would stick with the PhotoFlex.....
You can buy the ones that are made for "Continuous Lights" (CineDome and MovieDome Line of Softboxes) due to their heat resistant material and still be able to use them for your flash. I think Creative Light makes them only for flash.....
The same goes for Chimera, they make a Continuous Light line of Softboxes as well as flash. You'll pay a little more for this feature in the PhotoFlex and Chimera Brand but at least you won't take the chance of burning down your house.....

I can also recommend Chimera and Photoflex. Buying Chimera does take a bit more out of your pocket but the quality is there and you can't beat the enormous selection of accessories for their lightboxes. It all comes with a price tag but the fact that it's available is pretty impressive.

Photoflex makes great lightboxes. The velcro quick release corner is great and takes some of the frustration out of working with standard speed rings.

I use the CL (4' strips, 2x3, 5' Octa - but sold Octa as rarely used it) and Profoto (3x4, 4x6) boxes and have used Chimera, Eli. The CL boxes are very nice and the grids and boxes nciely priced. Their 5' Octa is a steal. Have never used Photoflex.

That said, I don't believe CL boxes, as Mark said, they are made for non-flash use. Picture an Eli box re: material and construction with a normal speedring (vs the captive Eli) one and you have a CL box.
