Hello FOlks,
i have been working on PP on my desktop [LG monitor L1752S] till i bought a Dell inspiron 1564 laptop quite recently. I did a comparison of images on both these displays and i was quite gobsmacked to see the difference in colors, images looked really warm to hot on desktop, while it looked the way i wanted on my laptop [display brightness at almost 50%]. I assume, the display of laptop is calibrated unlike my desktop [which is assembled]. I have posted some pics here that i shot and edited on my laptop, please let me know how the colors turned out.

oh and 1 last info.....i am partially color blind [have difficulty understanding colors from green yellow and red are mixed and matched....but i can identify 7 hardcoded colors of rainbow :|], now you can understand how SH!TTY my situation is, i also need to calibrate my eyes :) accordingly.

based on your valuable inputs i will adjust accordingly.

The images have AdobeRGB embedded, so will look wrong in a non-colormanaged application.

That being said, they look okay here on FF4 with full colormanagement & my calibrated screen.

There really is no good alternative to calibrating monitors. In my very limited experience, some laptops have been among the worst. I use the Eye-One Display 2, which is great: simple to use and effective. there are software tools one can use instead, but I never managed to get them to work right, and given your limited color sensitivity, they are really not going to help you.

Re the previous posting: there are three widely used color spaces. In order of the width of the gamut, they are sRGB, aRGB (Adobe), and ProPhotoRGB. Many people edit in aRGB or ProPhoto (Lightroom by default uses the latter) to have the greatest flexibility. However, computer displays are sRGB, and colors will look wrong on those displays unless you save or export them in sRGB color space.

Colors Look good to me using FF5.

Use Photoshops to Proof your colors. It will help, and you can even set it up for color blindness. You would probably need to set it up for proofing to Protanopia.
