I gave you some props on DPR. Yeah, these Pentax fanboys are getting pretty bent out of shape about it. It's as though they all have some vested interest in the success of this "Q" system. Weird!

They have all always been that way...I used to be all for Pentax but the crowd over there was way too serious about everything, and very high and mighty. They were better than everyone else because they had a camera that nearly noone uses. I bought the K200D because it was a great value a few years ago. When I said I was switching to Canon it was like I killed their firstborn children and I was the worst person in the world. Good riddance to them.

I basically switched to Canon because of this forum. Too awesome here to ignore.

True!

It's funny to see the people over on the Pentax forums defend this thing by saying not everyone demands perfect image quality and you can make a good image with any camera if you are talented.

Trueish i suppose...but...Really...there are VERY few times i've seen a point and shoot able to hold its own to a DSLR, Even at low ISOs and in the best of conditions...

Though thats also a good reason i got really nervous to make my "What is the FF advantage thread" because i feared i was going to get people whining at me that I must suck with the 7D if i want a FF cam...

well the irony is that if you don't need a fancy camera to make good images, why do you need a $800 interchangeable lens one?

I didnt even think of that...

I really cant defend the Q unless it came down heavily in price, at maybe $300 for the lens kit, i could see it actually...

But at $800 theres so many options...

Well, I can understand that last sentiment well! ;)

This is a fine forum with a nicely diversified user base and great mods. I've looked around and this one is the coziest by far. Even if you decide to go back to Pentax (or Nikon or Sony or Holga or finger-painting-what-you-see) the people here, for the most part, don't care. It's just a good all around community for photography (with a slight Canon-slant, of course).

Here's an article from CNET on the insane [lack of?] marketing strategy for this ridiculous camera.

http://news.cnet.com …le-too-late-and-too-much/ (external link)

The idea seemed gimmicky and stupid from the outset, but at $800? $800?! And $300 for a 24-80 standard lens, which isn't even that fast?! It won't even be able to mount old manual pentax lenses! For the $1100 you could get an EVIL camera, a kit, and a prosumer compact....

Seriously, the people behind this at pentax should lose their jobs, because a market strategy like this will run the company into the ground.
