A Cormorant & a Turtle

Well, I finally got up the nerve to post some of my stuff so.....
Here for your viewing are a turtle and a cormorant.
Turtle was a HUGE female that crawled up the bank of the river looking for a place to lay her eggs.

Cormorant's are pretty common but because they are quite dark against a bright background, I've always had trouble with them. In this case, it was about 10 am on a really bright day so the light was brutal.
I spot metered (duh!) and it worked fairly well although parts are blown out.

Shot with my 50D and a 300 F4L with a 1.4x extender.
