I'm supposed to shoot engagement photos at Stanley Park tomorrow for my best friend and his un-expecting fiance but the forecast calls for rain all day. Any suggestions for nice places to take these type of photos in the city of Vancouver? I'll be shooting with the 85 f/1.2 so I don't mind being indoors although ideally we'd like to find somewhere outdoors (possibly undercover). Thanks in advance!

Ryan

This is why I drive for hours on end on days that I don't have shoots scouting for locations. If it was Vancouver, Wa I could help you out. Sorry and hope all goes well. If anything have him do it out in the rain and throw a jacket over you or bring someone along so they can hold an umbrella while you shoot.

I've rescheduled quite a few e-sessions when I've been rained out. However since this is unexpected for the bride, perhaps that is not an option.

You might want to shoot in coffee shops and other small, locally owned businesses where getting permission is easy.

Since this is an international forum, your odds of finding (quickly) another photographer in Vancouver who has enough experience in shooting weddings to where he/she knows where to go during rain aren't very good. So it's not that people are ignoring you -- it's just a pretty specific request that most of us can't help out on (myself included)...

But what I can say is buy a HUGE classy umbrella!!! Then you can go everywhere you were planning on going AND add an awesome umbrella to the mix (something I always love seeing in photos).

Good thing it wasn't with the Stanley CUP.

Ryan, how'd it go?

Pacific Centre, Seabus Terminal, Sinclair Building, Library, Hotel Vancouver are just a few places that come to mind. You should have given me a call!

Are we doing the wedding? :)
