There was a thread about a Group-on deal at Fracture, the place prints photos on glass. The tread is gone but did anyone receive one? How does it look?

Just received my order. Took over 3 months to receive because of the influx of Groupon orders. Seems like everyone waited until the day before expiration to submit, including me.

As far as print quality, it looks like a low-res picture. I'll hang them because it's family portraits, but if I would have paid full price, I would be quite disappointed. I was hoping to impressed enough that I would start offering them to clients, but I don't want to see any more of my pictures printed on this particular substrate. I really wanted to like them, but I honestly cannot recommend the product to anyone.

(One could always argue that the fault lies in my portraiture skills. Truth is, I had the same exact images printed on glossy paper from a different lab and the results were great. I uploaded the same EXACT files.)

Can you take my picture on some railroad tracks?! No, that's illegal now. I'm really sorry.

If you are caught within 6' (or much more in some areas) of any train tracks without special permission you can be arrested by Railroad Police. This is especially true at night as it's also illegal to use lights anywhere near the tracks even with permission when a train is passing. Using lights near tracks may scare the train operator who might mistake it for a car or pedestrian and cause them to slow or stop the train which delays transport.

Also one or both sides of the tracks often contain power lines and dark fiber cables which are highly protected. You could even be marked as a potential terrorist for being near the tracks these days. So if you did manage to get caught you better have a damn good excuse as to what you were doing there. And even railroad workers working on the tracks have to follow strict rules as it's not a railroad dictated policy but rather federal safety laws.

Ha! Never thought my signature would "de-rail" a thread so fast! ;)

I ordered from them through a promotional deal too, and the end result was not at all what I was expecting, unfortunately. It was very dark (2 stops underexposed, I'd estimate) and the colors were a little off. The actual glass + frame thing is pretty nifty, but the quality of the print turned me off from ordering again.
