I've recently set up my C1, C2, and C3 slots for my most used settings, and I'm having a hard time getting the af micro adjust to translate over. It works fine in all the other modes save for the custom modes. Also, I can't seem to get the focus light confirmation to engage in C mode either. Thanks for any pointers.

Do you mean that the MA is not effective in the C1/C2/C3 modes, or that when you register the settings it does not remember them separately? My understanding is that those modes do not remember a separate setting for MA as well as a number of other settings.

Hi Phreeky -

It does not remember the MF settings. The MF adjust data is also not available in the EXIF data in DPP.

I'm not sure if C1/C2/C3 can remember different MFA adjustments for the same lens.

Micro adjustments are in the group of settings that sit above the Cx modes, ie. whatever you set is globally defined, regardless of switching to Cx or Av, etc.

Does that help any?

Yes, that's what I realized early on. But MF adjust is not working in any of the C-modes. Neither is my focus confirmation light (both of these work fine outside of C Modes).

So I assume you put a lens wildly out of calibration (like setting +20) on a lens that is otherwise 0, and in Tv/Av/M, your images are blurry, but in C1-3, they come out fine? I am trying to figure out how you know it is or isn't working since the only indication would be your image IQ, which is affected by other things as well.

Focus confirmation depends on AF mode, I believe, AI Servo vs One Shot, etc. AF mode would be part of the C1-3 definition.

Of course the manual is very cryptic about whether the MFA values are stored independently under C1-3, they just mention that custom functions are memorized. That would seem to mean that MFA is also stored independently under C1-3 then, but I was pretty sure it was global.

My 17-40 needs a plus ten in MF adjust. The images are crispy in TV, AV, etc, and much less sharp in Cx because the AF micro adjust is not being implemented. I discovered the problem of no MF adjust in Cx by the quality of the images and the lack of MF adjust data in EXIF info from Cx images.

I don't use the Cx modes, so can't be sure, but you have to set up most of the other parameters in those modes, then save them. If you choose AI Servo, you won't see Focus Confirmation. And perhaps you also have to set MFA in the Cx mode you're using, too.

Easy to check... set the mode to the Cx of your choice, then put the lens on the camera and look up MFA in the menu. If you don't see any adjustment, simply dial it in and set it.
