Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 - WOW!

I have a few (three, exactly) lenses that are on my "realistic wish list". I was lucky enough to purchase one of them yesterday: the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. I took it on its first "shoot" today and just looked through all the pictures.

Wow.

I had been struggling to get my 50D to take pictures that I was satisfied with. Looks like it might have something to do with the fact that I was using an 18-55mm IS kit lens most of the time...

Even at a higher ISO, the photos are coming out VERY sharp and without much noise. Pleased!

Congrats on the lens! When I was looking for a UWA, and after doing some research, it was a toss-up between the Canon 10-22 and the Tokina. I went with Canon, but yours is supposed to be an excellent lens.

Nice shot, btw.

Nice photo :)

Well I am not sure the lens is helping with the "high iso" but the short focal length does allow you to go quite low on your shutter speed so you can dial down the ISO for better results.

It's a lovely lens. The only down side is that it works more like a prime than a zoom due to the short zoom range.

I've got the lens, it is very nice. Agreed that it is almost a prime, I only ever use mine at 11mm...

Great pic and congrats on the lens! I had one for about a year when I had my 30Ds and loved every minute of it. If I didn't switch to a 1D body I'd have never sold it!

I love this lens. Congrats on the excellent purchase! I took these with it today for car listing purposes (well, the second shot was for fun...)

I had the Tokina 11-16 and it is a great lens. I sold it to buy the 17-40L because I recently upgraded to a Full frame but I missed this lens already due to the constant 2.8 and outstanding IQ. this IMO is the best UWA lens if you are using a cropped sensor camera.

She strikes again! That sexy, pseudozoom Tokina! I'm saving up to get her as I type!!
