canon 18-55 Kit Liens

Hello Guys,

just joined this forum. have a question on Canon 18-55mm Kit lens which comes along Canon T2i.

what is the best performing fstop for the above lens? where we can expect the sharpest and best pictures.

probably stopped down to f8 or so but the kit lens is pretty sharp to begin with. build is the worst but i'm sure you'll be happy w/ the picture quality.

The sharpest spot on most lenses is a couple stops down from wide open. On the kit lens its probably going to be around f8.

According to Photozone testing, it's sharpest at f/5.6 except at 55mm where it's sharpest at f/8.

I usually keep it at 5.6

Hi! Is it 18-55mm or 18-55mm IS kit lens? The difference in sharpness is visible!

I have a older non IS lens and it seems pretty decent around f8. But it works pretty well for me in most scenarios.
