i like the iq of mine but the build has me hating the lens. i already broke one and every time i put it in a bag im paranoid something is going to push against the lens cap and drive it into the lens..

mines sharp wide open is noticably sharper at 2.2-2.8 by f4 its as sharp as can be.

I only shoot wide open with this lens. I never stop it down. :lol:

Dabert07, those are great fotos! I like the model and I like the warmth of the setting sun. Did you use an off camera flash with soft box?

If I'm using a camera bag with separate sift compartments then the lens is protected. If I'm just using an ordinary bag I ensure the lens is in its own soft protective bag.. If I just dumped it into the bottom of any bag without protection I'm sure it wouldn't last more than a day or so, and that would be wholly my own fault. I wouldn't and don't do that with any lens, or flash, or whatever.

If you don't look after your gear then don't blame the gear when it breaks.


5D & 7D (both gripped), 24-105L, 100-400L, 15-85, 50 f1.8, Tamron 28-75, Sigma 12-24, G10, EX-Z55 & U/W housing, A1+10 lenses, tripods, lighting gear, etc. etc.

I used a vivitar with umbrella for alot of the pics. No flashes were used for the sun flare shots
