While some reviews refer to this lens as "less contrasty" than the other canon 50mm this topic have pictures with very pleasant tones, maybe not the best for accurate reproduction of colors but have great capability for artistic work.

Hello, I'm really new to this and am wondering if anyone could help me out. I want to get this lens because the price is very affordable and from the reviews I've read, it is a fantastic value. However, from looking at some of the pics in this thread, I see a very noticeable vignette effect in some. Is this an inherent chracteristic of the lens due to some technical limitation? Is it unavoidable?

Thanks for any replies.

That is probably the result of an effect applied with PP. There is no natural vignette with this lens to my knowledge, and I certainly have not seen any with my lens.
