If you're using full auto, try aperture priority (~ f/8) and an ISO that will provide a shutter speed twice the focal length of the lens, i.e., 1/100 - 1/125 for your 50mm. Also dont forget to increase it 1.6x if shooting on a crop sensor. I have to do a lot of math on the fly when shooting with my 70-200mm f/2.8L USM
