I just got the new STM version and holy moly is it night and day difference.

I would definitely recomend the upgrade, I had the II for a week and sold it because it was so terrible. I've had the STM one day and I'm already in love with it.

I have no experience at all with the STM, but I see 346 pages here that show me that this lens is a loooong way from "terrible".
