On my 5th copy of this lens over the years... added it back after a long stretch without one.

Was looking at the bokeh quality at F1.8 and when stopped down. I found that on my particular copy, that around F2.5, the bokeh smoothed out while still maintaining a shallow DOF. I can only imagine its due to the shape the blades make and stopped down it improves? I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can answer why the bokeh improves when I stop down the aperture a little? Wide open at F1.8 I find the bokeh to be nervous and busy looking, hallmark of a cheap lens with few aperture blades. A common thing with a $50 lens like this. But, stopping down to F2.5, the lens looks quite nice, bokeh is much smoother. So while the lens is acceptable at F1.8, I find it much more pleasing at F2.5, while still looking pretty good from a DOF stand point in this example, the DOF loss is so minimal it's not missed or noticed really.

Bokeh at F1.8:

Bokeh at F2.5 (much better, smoother out of focus quality stopped down)

Another example of out of focus area quality of the blur:

F1.8: (lots of sharp hard edges on out of focus features looking busy and nervous)

F2.5 (immediately more pleasing and smooth bokeh):

I have a broken lens, the front element pops out when in AF, so I used it in MF mode with an adpter on the EOS M10. It was very difficult to focus, the front element is not aligned well with the back element, the focus ring is tiny and inaccurate...

This one is usable I think...
