That was the 70-200? Looks similar to what a Biotar/Helios would produce. Nice.

Perfect. That building in the bokeh is exactly what I am currently in to. It makes an actual impact. I find myself wondering what she will do if she is going to that building. So for me, this kind of bokeh shot is what I am after. We could disagree about the value of the subject in focus, that just an opinion from one person to another, but that is definitely bokeh in my book, whether the in focus subject is this woman or whether it was a fence post in focus.

Thank you. I do have to admit that this photo was never planned for. Rather, it was one of those situations where you realize that you may have a potentially good frame in front of you and you only have a few seconds to react. So nothing about this picture was particularly pre-planned.

That being said, I was very happy to see the result once I got back home that day. There's is very little I would change about the picture, if I could.

The beauty in this picture is twofold: First, the subject of focus is facing you backwards, so she's not the main target of the photo. Rather, her position directs you to look out the out of focus areas of the frame. And, second, this is where power of the bokeh kicks in. As there is the building in the horizon, you're easily led to assume that she's gazing to frame that for her own photo.

So it's the point of focus plus the bokeh that together create the mood and the purpose of this picture.

Bokeh is typically used for the purpose of subject isolation. That's nice, and I do that a lot too. But I truly enjoy the kind of bokeh which has the ability to show the viewer particular hints in the out of focus areas that actually play a definitive part in the frame.

As for added enhancement, I'm actually very satisfied how the snowflakes appear in the frame, due to the bokeh.

But this is surely and merely my conception of the my own photo and the bokeh.
