Hi all, well I finally got my Metz 45 CL-4 back from the shop and I've been experimenting with it on my 20D. Does anyone have any experience with using this flash? I'd like to get some input.

I tested the flash on Auto and my camera on Av mode (with the camera set to 250th of a second - I set this in the custom functions menu)

Thanks

I have used the metz 45 CT-4 for the past 20 years on all the camera systems that i have owned with the appropriate SCA adapters, 1st an Olympus OM2 & OM4, 2nd Canon EOS 100 & EOS 5, 3rd a Bronica ETRSi, 4th a Nikon CoolPix 990, and now on my Canon EOS 300D & 20D but unfortunately Metz no longer make SCA adapters for this Flashgun/Camera combination so i use on auto and it gives excellent results. Go to www.metz.de (external link) switch to English (unless you understand German of course) and follow the SCA Adaptors link. Your combination is possible but with limitations.

it will physically operate, but you won't be able to uses AV mode for fill as it automatically assumes you're in flash mode.

it's a great bracket and the position and shape of the flash itself works suprisingly well in portrait mode. the downside is it only has TTL which is great for the film bodies but not the 20D. it's great in M mode, though :)

Yes, I've used the Metz 45CL-4 extensively on my 35mm cameras.
I read about the Adapter: SCA 3102 M3 and I'm not quite sure what its function is?

I just answered my question I found it at VISTEK (external link) in Toronto.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction!

Mark
