Shooting indoor portraits - any tips?

I'm a 15 year old who's new to photography and any help is greatly appreciated! I have a canon rebel XS and was using a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 for the picture. Was wondering if you have any tips for shooting indoor portraits without a flash? Thanks!

Hi and welcome
window light...you can get some good portrait shots with just nice window light.place your subject in the room and position to get the best light ..watch your backgrounds for distracting objects,use a reflector for a fill light to add more light to your subject,if the light is to bright from the window defuse the light .
