RF-602 getting poor range?

I was testing out my RF-602s tonight and I found that the range was like, ~10m indoor and 20m outdoors with 60-80% reliability. I had two Rx/Tx sets with roughly equal performance, and used SB-28dx and 550EX as the flash units.

Note that I was holding the transmitters, so I figured I would attenuate the signal a bit too (actually, I found the reliability to be really dependent on transmitter orientation), so I was only expecting half the advertised range. The batteries were brand new and so were the triggers.

Also note that I'd tested another set of these in a parking lot and gotten ~155m of range with the same reliability, though mounted on camera instead in my hand. Any idea why my range is so horrible?

I know the 602s use 2.4GHz, would having a lot of wifi networks interfere with the 602s' reliability?

Note to mods: posted in wrong forum. Move please.
