Got a couple of shots I really like, thought I'd share them. It's hard to get shots of the bears on the actual lava rock because there's not a lot of vegetation on them, they generally stick to the sides of the road.

Wow, great shots! Were you north of Terrace BC? I was up there two weeks ago and wonder if we have photographed the same cubs!

That's exactly where I was! Those look like the same cubs to me, the mother (and cubs) have some very distinctive blond fur around their faces.

I'm up there every weekend, I have never seen black bears up on the lava rocks before.

Great shots, btw!

Wow Tony, just looked through your shots... you got some amazing stuff! I want to get out on one of those Khutzemateen tours one day.

Thanks for your comments! You live in an awesome area for wildlife! I was there two weeks ago for the trip to the Khutzeymateen which was a trip of a lifetime and there is a post here on it. I am going back up in August for a couple of whale tours out of Prince Rupert and then we'll go up the Lave Bed hiway looking for bears, love to find a white one, then on to Hyder and fish creek for a couple of days! The drive from Terrace to Rupert is just as pretty as I remember it although it was a little depressing going through Terrace as all the mills I used to sell to seem to have been mothballed!

I was sad to read on yopur flickr of the Wolf that had to be put down, people are so STUPID! There was also a Grizz that needed to be put down last week just south of Work Channel for the same reason! Don't feed the animals and sign the petition to stop the Grizzly Bear Trophy hunt!!!

Best wishes!

Tony.
