I went to Pontefract Park today to the model Helicopter Fly-In, oh! sorry I never said they were models in the title did I ? I loved the scale helos but the things they can do with the aerobatic helos is just amazing, unfortunately a few pushed a little too far and paid the price. One second you've got over a grands worth of helo, the next you've got a pile of worthless scrap. I'll stick to my somewhat cheaper indoor helos thank you, they're enough of a money pit for me. Sorry about the quality, I only had my 70-200 with me as I thought they'd be flying closer in; so quite a lot of cropping on these and boy do these things move.

Nice shots of what looked like a great day of entertainment. That crash isn't likely all that destructive based on what I've seen at similar events, but they can be money pits for sure.
I've just started trying to learn to fly one, and so far the pile of damaged parts hasn't discouraged me, but I bought 2 used heli's with LOTS of spares for very decent prices. Once I run out of spares I may have to re evaluate my attitude re the cost of learning.

A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

Doing the crazy "chicken dance"......had a couple of mine do that. Lots of thrashing and smoke.

Thanks for looking guys, I packed in flying fixed wing because I saw so many go in and couldn't bear the thought of my pride and joy ending up as a pile of match sticks on the floor. So I sold it all and now I stick to flying in doors, turns out it's not all that much cheaper than flying outdoors
