I recently purchased a package deal for some alien bee strobes and a few modifiers from the classifieds section. Does anyone know if Paul Buff ever made a 37 inch octa? I know now they offer a 35 inch and 47 inch. The way the model # was listed in the ad as FOB37 Foldable Mediuim Octabox.

The reason I ask, is because I was wanting to purchase a grid for it, but I'm thinking this box is possibily discontinued. This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know how the size of the octas are measured?

Thanks in advance for any help.

So is your octa 35" or 37"? You can measure and compare it to what AB sells or better call AB.

Fuji XT-1, 18-55mm
Sony A7rIV, , Tamron 28-200mm, Sigma 40mm f1.4 Art FE, Sony 85mm f1.8 FE, Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art FE
Fuji GFX50s, 23mm f4, 32-64mm, 45mm f2.8, 110mm f2, 120mm f4 macro
Canon 24mm TSE-II, 85mm f1.2 L II, 90mm TSE-II Macro, 300mm f2.8 IS I

Well in the classified ad it was listed as a 37 inch. I haven't tried measuring it yet. I guess I should give ab a call. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Anyone else have any idea if they made a 37inch octa at one point?

I do not believe they ever made one that size. You probably have something like this and they simply listed it AB because it has a compatible speedring: http://www.amazon.com …l-AlienBees/dp/B004NJDDJY (external link)

I'm almost 100% positive it's a paul buff octabox. I'll have to double check when I get home. It's possible that the seller may have mis labeled the size in the ad. I'll probably just give them a call to see if they ever made a 37 inch. Any one else have any info on this?

If it is it will say either Paul C. Buff or Lightgear USA.

Almost positive it says Paul C. Buff, but like I said I'll have to check when I get home. Thanks for your help. :)

It says Paul C. Buff. I compared it to my 45" round halo and I figured out it's a 47inch. Time to order a grid. :) Thanks to everyone who commented.
