Have thought about changing the color of the LED display on the top of my 5Dc from amber to blue or red. Anyone done anything like this before? I have all the tools necessary to disassemble a camera.

Blue would be too harsh, however, red may work well. 5D | 50D | 60 f/2.8 Macro | 85 f/1.8 | 17-40 f/4L | 70-200 f/2.8L | 430EX

I worked as an SMT repair tech for two years at an electronics firm. I got a nice Weller setup wouldn't be a problem for me to do it. I was just curious if anyone else here had undertaken such a project. It looks like I could just remove the top of the camera off and access it that way. I'm no novice to camera repair I did a shutter replacement in my 400d. 5D / 400d / 70-200-4LIS / 50 Mk.I / 28-70

You'll be the first person to have a diffent color display. You will be the coolest kid in POTN. Post some pics when you're done with the project. No I'm not a photographer, I just shoot with Canon DSLR with those lenses with red thingy...

After..
and in the dark..
Oh and its a standard 0603 SMD LED mounted on its side and loss of light at a rough guess is maybe afew dozen mcd so cant be bothered tracing the wiring back and either bridging the resistor or finding an alternate power source. Gear: Afew bodies and afew pieces of glass | Flickr
