Light, minimal bag for 70-200 2.8 IS II, Bigmos + Netbook

Looking for a super lightweight bag, preferably shoulder or messenger style, which can hold a 70-200 2.8 IS II a Bigmos and a Netbook. Bodies will be in photo vest, but the long lenses just don't fit well for airplane travel.

I've looked at the Crumpler 8MDH but think it's more bag than I really need. Would like to keep the weight of the bag itself under 2 pounds. Only needs minimal padding.

Suggestions?

Of course, and Domke is a natural choice. However, the bags advertised for laptops are much larger than needed for a netbook. Hoping someone can guide me to specific models which might be the proverbial "just right."

how small are those netbooks? 10"?

I say check out those TT Retrospective, I just pulled the trigger on a Retro 30, I know it won't fit a laptop in there but according to most reviews it would fit an Ipad on the back pocket... so if a netbook is somewhere around 10" then I assume it would fit in there.

I will receive my bag tomorrow :D

here's a good review of the bag (no mention of any kind of netbooks or ipad though)
https://photography-on-the.net …ighlight=retrospective+30

here's a quote from one of the reviews

The back compartment

Unfortunately one of the things that the bag doesn’t have is a compartment for laptops. There is enough room for possibly an iPad or a netbook computer, but my 13” laptop was far too large to fit inside. This is annoying at times when I want to have my laptop with me, but I figure keeping it at home helps me focus on what matters the most when I am on the streets–which is shooting.

EDIT: with your 70-200mm and Bigmos I think you're better off with the Retro 20, its deeper than the 30 but a bit narrower :D Goodluck

This particular netbook is 10 1/4" x 7 1/2" x 1 1/2". Look forward to hearing how you like your bag when you get it!

Spoke with ThinkTank today, and they didn't recommend the Retro, as they thought the 20 was a bit more than I needed and the 10 too small for the netbook. Instead, they suggested the Urban Disguise 35 2.0 which I have to say does look almost custom-designed for this purpose. I prefer the styling on the Retro, but function does trump all.

Still have an email into Domke and waiting to hear back from them what they suggest.

Crumpler 7MDH is still in the mix as well.

Love input on any of the above or other suggestions.

I just got my bag...and I agree I don't think its a good way to carry a netbook, an ipad or a Galaxy would be fine, but Netbook is a whole lot thicker.

here's a shot of the bag relative to the 70-200mm VRII

That is one heck of a good looking bag, though!

Appreciate you taking the time to come back, take and post the pics and confirm what the CSR indicated to me this afternoon. I trusted him, but trust POTN and pics even more ;) He had no reason to steer me wrong, but sometimes official reps can be conservative in what they'll say works or not.

Enjoy the bag and happy shooting!

I think you would be more than happy with UD if you decide to get one... I never believed people when they said workmanship is top notch, but it really is  solid bag!!

I've long admired TT bags, just never found one suiting the exact purpose I was seeking at a given time. Methinks purpose and timing are coming together in this instance!

Sounds like a perfect excuse, er reason, to get a tablet! You need something to put in that pocket after all.
