I followed a group of turkey vultures I saw in the sky for a few miles and found where a bunch of them were roosting. Sadly it was hard to get shots of the through all the trees.

Steven, that's awesome that you were able to get as close as you did! What lens did you have/use for that?

I'm still working up the nerve to pack a bigger lens!

Also, I have created a flickr group if any one on flickr wants to add their related photos to the pool

Great! I'm about to check it out!

Well, your Flickr group is off to a good start -- you posted two Bikography photos!

I admit I've never joined Flickr, but now I'm tempted:)!

Well I took my bike with me when I went to town this afternoon. But on the way I remembered that I have a baseball game at 9pm tonight. So the nice long bike ride was put off.

I did buy a new helmet today though. Old one is about 6 years old and I've lost a couple of the foam pads, so it's now gonna be the backup one.

Well, one more adventure to post today...

I haven't gotten out on the bike today -- I've been busy here at home.

But, among other things I finsished processing photos from a biking excursion I did last week! So...

I had a simple errand to run. I had to go to a store that is about a 20-25 minute walk (I've walked this way many times recently:)) and I just had to pick up one thing. So, a quick bike ride there and back to the safety of home, right? In fact I didn't even need the bike -- I'm so used to walking this way!

And, for a quick boring errand like that, there wouldn't be anything interesting to photograph so who wants or needs to pack a DSLR/lens combo in a backpack and lug it. Right?

Well wrong!! I have determined to take this recently "transportation-challenged" lifestyle and transform it into a new photo op lifestyle!

So, I grabbed my backpack/camera gear, hopped on my bike, and headed out!

The first thing of interest I encountered was road work at a nearby intersection, hindering both bikers and pedestrians. I hopped off my bike, pulled out my 5DC with the 24-104 and began getting some wide shots as I walked forward. If I was driving, of course, I would have just patiently driven along, but hey, this was an Urban Scene!:

I got closer to get some detail, and you can see the challenge for a pedestrian or bicyclist to simply cross the main street up ahead:

These two gals decided to take matters into their own hands:

Next up, a new scene!

So then, all I needed to do was turn right, go through the construction mess and then a quick jaunt to the store.

But I can be stubborn -- what I really wanted to do was to go across the main street and farther, taking a side trip to explore for photo ops!

But, rather than wrangle with the road work, I decided to cut to the left, cross at the next intersection, and then work my way up through the business/industrial park that was across the main boulevard, so off I went!

I entered the business park and was concentrating on the way through and out the other end, when my attention was diverted -- hey, they had some very cool glassy buildings here! And, I wasn't driving so didn't need to find a parking lot, I just pulled my bike over and parked it, took my camera out of my backpack, and started taking photos!:

Hey, the things you can see with a bike and a camera when you leave the beaten path!

Next up: The Fountains!

I was just using the small 55-250. Not the greatest lens in the world, but it sure is light :)

Might as well. If you do most stuff in LR or aperture you can get it automatically add things to a group as well. Then you can just add your bikographs there nearly automatically and toss them up on your pbase account. Pretty tight integration.
