Well, I've been busy with "stuff" so processing pics from the other day is coming in "second", but a couple shots:

It was approaching sun down when I took this, and I was facing West so I was dealing with the sky bright from the sun and the foreground dark, so got shots like this:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/140895052/original.jpg

I then cranked it in Lightroom -- and ended up with halos, but here was one result:

Quick shots, bits and pieces of Suburbia:

I should say I'm a bit of a "nut" when it comes to the sky. To me, if I am going to have sky in my shot I dang well want it to come out in my photo as "real sky", not just the "bleh" flat white/grey sky that comes from "exposing for the foreground".

So, as a result, this is why I tend to "crank" things in Lightroom, but the results can be iffy -- the halos in the treetops, or the buildings looking "flat" in the lower lighting and in cranking down on highlights to bring out the sky/cloud detail. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes:)!

Tony,
Did you use LR4 beta for this cranking? EDIT: I just saw from your similar post in 5D classic that you did not use LR4 beta. You might give that a try. I think you'll find the results much more to your satisfaction using the new 'highlight' and 'shadows' sliders in the basic module.

Scott, no I didn't use LR4 -- yes, it would be interesting to see the output, I just don't get access yet to my laptop with LR4 yet!!

I put the Motobecane back together and rode down to Lake Michigan for a quick couple of pictures.

Not sure if I have to wait for a comment before I can post two of birds in flight. Taken with the SX210, handheld, SOOC (I think I've got that acronym right) just reduced in dimensions for the web.

Edit: I put the bird shots over here https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=13814765#post13814765 in post #134 (I think) if anyone wants to see them.
