i like the KISS ( Keep it simple stupid) meathod. 64" paraboic would work awesome on her example. BTW stupid was no way directed at michelle. We like what michelle and her husband do. My wife and i are a husband wife team as well.

Here is one using an 86 PLM, I had it back farther than necessary, but the light is so soft it gives a lot of lattitude.

 Written like someone who has at least once had what they posted misconstrued! It never would have occurred to me that remark might be directed to me, that's how dense my skin is!

BTW I love the KISS philosophy-- it's what we live by & I am always up for learning more ways to do just that. I am currently searching for something like a 50" Westcott Apollo Softbox.

Nice gonz:cool:

I love my Plm's but you better have someone standing by if you use them outside:eek:. For outside use i would jump on an octa or turn a large softbox sideways. I broken a few umbrellas when outside:o

Parabolic light modifier. Basically a big umbrella, you can also add a diffusion panel so you get ultra soft light.

I made a ghetto style lighting cart from a 3 wheeled golf cart and a laundry hamper, I clamped the cart to the stand to make it stable, no problems in normal wind.

Are the shoot through umbrellas I used not considered medium to large modifers? thanks for the info!

Not if it's creating a "sharp" crisp shadow like the one that is falling on the kid's face from the picture frame.....

Having a speedlite behind a shoot through umbrella give the illusion of a large light source. But, unless you've tested to make sure the zoom setting and distance between speedlite and umbrella is sufficient to fill the umbrella the light is really much smaller than the umbrella.

Additionally, the umbrella has to be close to the subject so that its size is large compared to the subject.

Ironically, when trying to do what you are doing, a ring light might be a better fill source. It would minimize the secondary shadow problem while filling the shadows from the main light.

I didnt take any photos, but I'll describe it. Sun mountain speed cart, its a 3 wheel pushcart. On the bottom I attached a plastic tote, big enough for a vagabond and some accessories (cords, gels, diffusion cloth for PLM), resting on top of that is a medium sized hamper that would hold 2 stands 2 bees and the PLM. I might have it out again on friday, if so I will document my total lack of style.
