I'm delving into the world of off camera flash and need a proper stand. I have 2 speedlights, no strobes. Don't have a soft box or anything yet, one step at a time.
Can anyone recommend a quality stand and anything else I'd need to mount my speedlight properly? Looking around a 130$ budget. Thanks in advance.

I bought a strobist kit from midwest photo with a stand and speedlite/umbrella mount. It has worked well for me.

I have a pair of Impac (external link)t 13 foot air cushioned light stands purchased from B&H. I have put them and tore them down many times over the last two years. Never run into any problems with them. Alien bees have been on them 99% of the time. However, I did do an outdoor senior shoot with a 580EXII mounted to a 24 in QBOX. No trouble with it on the stand at all. Maybe you don't need the 13 foot height. They do sell shorter versions like the ten footer.

Here is some reading for ya...

This kit from B&H is of decent quality. It comes with two stands, two umbrellas, and two umbrella brackets. The stands aren't at all heavy duty, but they will do fine with a speedlight and they are really portable.
