You shot these all at f/1.8 and 1/8000 sec. The reasons you picked these extreme settings are what precisely? You have very shallow depth of field and tons of glare, as you shot right into the sun. The strange out-of-focus pattern in the first one makes it look like you shot it through the bottom of a beverage glass. If that's the look that you were going for that's fine. However, to my eye they are unfabulous shots. It looks like a nice setting with lots of potential.

^^^
Wanted some mean bokeh.
And the effect of No.1 was caused by a gust of wind, which I thought added interesting composition with the sun.

Kind of similar to what joedlh said

#1 The close leafs look really weird and I don't know what the real focus should be

#2 Nice, but a bit deeper DOF would help draw focus to the picture better. Like if you could have 1 flower and stem in focus and the rest blurred it would look better.

#3 The flare on the only sharp part of the picture is distracting

#4 Good photo

Thanks for the critique, I'v still got loads to go through and process, after which I'll cull them to 3 or 4 of the best ones.

Below is one I'v just finished processing...

I like the series; while not convention looking they are, IMO, attractive and pleasing images. nice job.
