Maybe I should say unidentifiable, cause he was dead when I found him and then he got squished when I put the cover-slip on the slide. He looked like a speck of dust to start with, and was already dead. I had to use tweezers to pick it up. Anyway, he's kind of interesting at 100x to 200x magnification.

Thanks Dean. This is one of those tiny midges that if you got on in your eye, you would just blink it away. It was so small I almost didn't see it at all. LOL

Thanks Rakesh. Can you tell that it is a midge? I don't really know, it's only the size of one wing on a mosquito. Really, really small.

Yes, it is like the second one. See the antenna cups on the head? Mine had those too. But mine was already dead when I found it. There were a bunch of them on my bed in the morning, under the overhead light. They came in last night and were flying around the light until I turned it off last night.

I don't think this is a mosquito. I have seem mosquitoes emerge from the water, and they are already full sized.

Thats a great page for identification and I have bookmarked it. I did not see a exact match though. My midge was most definitely not interested in me. It flew around the ceiling light with some of his buddies and only seemed to live a few hours before it died. It was way too tiny to see any detail without magnification. I can see a mosquito, but this was just a dot. LOL
