what's the proper way to hold your camera?

i feel like i get unnecessary shake when i shoot.... like i am not holding the camera steadily. i use BBF, and notice that the camera drifts when i press the focus button. then, when i press the shutter, it shakes the camera as well ever so slightly. having a t2i, a very light body, doesnt help.

i hold my left hand under the lens and brace my arms against my body, but still get some shake. what am i doing wrong?

You might want to look into a battery grip. Every time I take mine off I am amazed at how much of a difference there is.

i may just have to do that. i went to Adorama today to play with a 7D, and when i picked up the T2i after, it felt like a toy. need to add some heft to my camera (orrrr, just buy a 7D )

I hear L glass weighs a good bit

i found this movement will lessen with time. is it impacting your IQ? bump the shutter speed.

Something some people do without even realizing is they tense up tighten up their hold trying to stabilize the shot, in addition holding their breath while focusing and composing the shot through the view finder. It doesn't help if you're holding the camera up for extended periods either, but If you relax just a bit and breath normally while you do, you won't have as much shake.

There is a little Acronym target shooters and the Military use when on the range firing their weapons. B.R.A.S.S.
Breath, Relax, Aim, Stop, Squeeze.
Same principle can be applied to photography.
Breath and relax while you compose the shot, then only just before or as you press the shutter button briefly hold your breath.
After a while you'll be doing it without even thinking about it or knowing that you do it.

It's not just photographers, and text speak is getting more common every day; Unfortunately. Pretty soon it's going to be a new language.

I have a long military background, so acronym use is nothing new to me. Nevertheless, I feel there is too much of it going around, not everything needs to be associated with an acronym. Especially if people don't take the time at least once in their message posts clarify what it is.
