A few days ago, I posted a sunset shot that I got after a storm looking over some vineyards in Germany. Most people liked the shot in general, but felt that the sun flare distracted from the overall feel of the shot.

I just got around to printing it today, and while I had PS open, I took the flare out. I dropped it into NIK Color Effects just to see how it would look with a glow, but I accidentally hit the wrong tab. I got "Graduated Filter" instead. I opens by default with a graduated blue filter, and I was startled by how natural it looked! No sharp horizontal line, like PS might have given, no, to me this looked like an authentic blue sky, just as you would really see.

So I am posting it here, to see what you all think. From where you sit, does the blue look natural, or edited in? With the addition of the blue, I did not crop the sky, as I had on the previous thread - good decision or bad? What about the colors in general - blue, yellow, green? Do they work? Anything out of place?

If you want to compare it directly to the original HERE is that thread.

Anything else?

I think this one is much better than the original. I'm somewhat of a purist, but I still prefer the edited version - though I'm not sure I agree with the removal of the sun flare.

I expect the sky to have a blue coloration, which this one has. I also expect some flaring if I'm shooting straight into the sun - so it's kind of faking me out here.

Either way, I love the context of the photo. The fields and their perpendicular lines really create great geometry.

I like this edit better because of the filter. The colors work really well together

Wow, a beautiful shot! I prefer this edit, I like the way the blue sky meets the reds.
