Another which or which thread:rolleyes::rolleyes: i know.

Ok here is the dilemma i have a 7D and all what is in my sig i bought my 7D thinking i would be shooting a lot of sport which i have found out that is not my main goal anymore but is now Landscape/cityscape and indoor house shots and buildings just a tad of indoor sports. I love my 7D but find that i want to switch to full frame cause im not a big fan of having to switch lens out in the city or on the beach so bringing my 10-20 and 24-105 is not convenient so if i go full frame i relize that the 24 will be wider and would work for the longer end. I have done a lot of research and read a lot of threads and have came up with a choice of a 1Ds III and 5D II or wait for the mark 3. I love the high iso capabilities of the 5D II but the focus of the 1dsIII would work for when i do some sports. Can you guys chirp in a little input of what you guys think.

Both of your choices will meet your needs. Depends on how much you want to spend. If you only occasionally do sports I would get the 5d and use the rest for lenses. The af isn't all that great but you could learn to work around it I think.

What does your instinct tell you to do?

I bought a 7D initially for the same reasons a lot of people do. 8fps.

I thn started shooting evertying for fun(it's a hobby, not a job)

Then I did a great project on swimming at my senior swim conference(I cried after it was over) I could NOT have gotten the project don't with anything less than my 7D. The only other camera that could have pulled it off is the mark 4.

So you want to do city and people. What are you looking for lens wise? Wider? Faster?

Why not get a 17-55mm? It's equivalent to a 24mm on the wide side, although it's not quite as long as the 24-105.

Do you plan to keep your 7d for the "some sports" you mention? or is getting a new body tied into selling the 7D?
If you keep the 7D, this is easy. Get the 5D II now. Anyone who knows the status of the MKII replacement isn't talking here, and you'll get some time to experiment with the FF world and see if it's really your cup of tea.
If you're getting rid of the 7d to fund a new body, it's a hard call with what to get. I'd lean toward the 5D because I think you'd enjoy it more, and this hobby isn't any fun if we're not enjoying it.

I love my 7D but you seem better suited to a 5DII. The $1K you save can be put towards some quality L glass.

you could get the 5dII and then get either the 17-40 or save a little more and get the 16-35 II?

I recently bought the 5D MK II [REFURBISHED FROM CANON's SHOP]. Although I haven't received it yet, all I've been hearing were good things about it. Very low shutter counts, no physical damages..Just overall brand new. All hail the mighty 5D MK II :D!

I was going to wait for the 5DIII, then decided to go for the 5DII. That was 18 months ago and I haven't look back. The 5DII images are phenomenal. I Still have the 7D though.

being honest do you truly find that the 5D II is that much better then the 7D in terms of ISO? I would love to make the switch but dont know how big of a upgrade it would be.

It's not just ISO performance.

Crop framed to Full frame is basically a life change in my opinion. I had the 7D to.
5D MK 2 is more for static subjects/ exceptional in video also
7D is great for video with it's high fps/ Sports shots with it's pristine AF system.
No one knows when the 5DIII is going to be released... It could be a whole year... You only live once you know.
Hope this helps you make your decision.
