I'm just back from my annual photo safari on Prince Edward Island. It has rained non stop and I got exactly 3 hours of blue sky, but that's the way it rolls. The nice thing about all the rain was that the island was very green and clean, and the red clay was very red with all that water! I grew up there and didn't appreciate how pretty it really is until I moved away. Here's a couple from my day.

Nice shots, Sue. It has been around 10 years since I was on the island, but still remember the beauty and serenity there.

Have plenty of Canons, enough ammo, enough to blow 'em to "L". Now, I just have to learn to aim.

Sue those are great! Love the lupine.

My BIL just came back from a week long motorcycle tour of PEI and Nova Scotia... and was rained on continuously as well... not a fun week on a bike!

Thanks, guys. I just wish I'd been able to stick around for late day light. Here's a couple more...some of these are cropped to an odd aspect ratio as they are going in an 8.5X11 calendar.

Nice pics of a very relaxing area. Was there about five yrs ago and really enjoyed it. Your pics reminded me that we got to go back some day.

Very well done! Did you use a tripod, or hand held?

All my photos that day were hand held and mostly a 50 mml 1.2 lens. I only brought two lenses, that and a 70-200 l 2.8, which I used ONCE the whole day. A fox and her 5 babies appeared on the road and by the time I got the truck stopped, lens changed, and ready to shoot, the babies disappeared into the ditch. Mama fox did indulge me though by posing in the field and I got a decently close shot of her. For the hassle of traveling 4 time zones, I should learn that the 50 mm rarely leaves my camera, but I always bring others "just in case" and rarely use them.

Looks like a nice relaxing place to visit and I like your photos Sue.

Have you considered trying to tone down the sky a bit? With CS5, you could add a black and white layer, change it's blend mode to 'luminosity' then using the picker tool, reduce the luminosity of the cyan in the sky.

I hope you don't mind but here is an example of what I mean using one of your shots. I also selected the sky and did a curves adjustment.

The second image is just trying to make your shot look more like an illustration.

Ohhhhhhh, I love that edit, Navydoc. PP is not my strong suit, so I appreciate the suggestion. I"m going to go back over my other shots and see how it translates there. Thanks again!
