I was trying to take some seascape shots at sunrise from Maroochydore Beach in Australia this am... one of the many early morning surfers came across and instead of waiting for him to pass thought I'd try a silhouette shot. Ended up liking this better than what I'd planned to shoot. C&C welcome.

That's a really cool shot, thanks for sharing.

Not to hijack the thread but it reminds me of my own shot. The lighting and colors on yours is better though

fantastic shot, do u happen to have one of him about 2 steps to the right? I think that composition would be even more amazing.

Excellent capture. KUDOS to you.

the glow in the water and the rays from the sun look great! i like how you can just make out the detail in the surf board too.

Beautiful shot! It looks like a bit of sharpening haloing around the rocks the surfer is on, but fantastic lighting.

I think that haloing effect is partly due to the fact those rocks are closer and not as focussed at the surfer and background - it looks like he's on the rocks but actually well beyond them.

I've seen dozens and dozens of surfer silhouettes, they bore me. THIS does not bore me, it inspires me. Terrific work!!!!!!!!!!!
