Wedge Tail Eagle [zoo]

We went to the Cairns Tropical Zoo today. A great opportunity to try out my settings.

This guy came out with this gorgeous (but huge) bird perched on his hand. Apparently she was hit by a car and is missing half of her left wing. She won't be able to fly anymore, but she's doing great at the zoo and is slowly being introduced to the public and will become the mascot to make people aware.

Gorgeous thing she was... 4.5 kilos in weight. BIG!!

Lovely birds these Wedgies, I am yet to get a good shot of one in the wild.

Thanks... I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild.

How sad for her to never fly again. I get them here sometimes, I see them in pairs just circling high over head.
Lovely photos of her, but I feel I would like to get a rag and clean her beak. hahahha

She just got through eating the ass end of a dead rat.... yeah I got a picture of that too!
