here is a pic from last year. The JBS Turbine boat went out for a race an ran a couple laps then heard a big bang an shudder feeling from the left back of boat... came in an found this:
talking with the driver, he told me the story an showed me the damage. you can see that it just sheered it self from the prop shaft...
That was really ugly. Rust in a shaft that was brand new. Allegations of used parts instead of new, against the
vendor. It is a shame, that was/is a great boat, with good funding. I would sure like
to see them back.
I raced for a bunch of 10+ years, longer than most, and the attrition (burn out factor) is
very high. Ridiculous amounts of money to be completive, poor coverage, hardly enough
price money to even pay for gas, changing class rules from year to year, and watching
many friends and rivals die doing this.
I enjoyed racing, I have no regrets, but common sense took me over, and now I only run
at select events.
