1. The selective coloring doesn't work well here, just my preference.
3. I really like the selective coloring here, and the throwing of the dress looks more natural
5. Really shiny car, which is distracting me from focusing on anything in the photo. Also the rearview mirror caught a bit of her dress. I'd try to mute that in PP.

Overall nice set.

thanks! noted the car part :P...

I'm not a fan of selective color for the most part, but seeing what the color image of the trees in the back, I think giving the customer a variety of PP images is always good.

I like the set, I think the colors are fun and would be tough to get right every shot for consistency. I just saw an uncle shoot a niece's wedding last week and he did a great job. The family got those image for free, win-win for all involved. The only problem is, sometimes it's nice to get a fresh perspective from non-family member, but then again, a close relative usually knows what you really are like, so can try to capture that without taking twice as many images.

Keep posting. As for the critiquing, I think it's good to have some feedback here in the wedding forum. The idea that people only want a pat on the back every time is not true. Some really want to improve and with so many pros here, it's good to get a bit of advice.

While I am not a huge fan of selective coloring, I think this is the best i've seen it used in a while.

I agree with nicksan, but I still enjoy the images. The selective coloring is usually something that is frowned upon, like zooming when shooting a feature film. However, if it is ever used, this is the way to do it. Thanks for sharing!

Some great stuff, love them, and guys no need to get agro over someones feedback, at the end of the day the OP asked for C&C, if he thinks its valid then he will take it away with him, if he doesnt agree then im sure he can make his own mind up... were all big boys now :)

Take it easy.

Great work, thanks for sharing! :)

I don't care for the first shot with the selective color, but just my opinion. If the bride likes it, that's what counts.

Second shot in full color is a nice shot.

Third shot looks a bit odd. I could see if she was standing over a grate with wind blowing up like that famous Marilyn Monroe pic, but in this instance I really don't know what to make of it.

Fourth shot of the couple while an okay shot, just shows way too much overhead of basically nothing and would be way more impactful if the couple filled the frame more.

Fifth shot is a nice shot of the rear of a nice car. Would have been better if she was smiling and perhaps looking at the fancy material on the trunk.

As stated, sixth shot is also ok, but I'm not sure what the true color of the dress is as it's quite different from the fifth shot. Perhaps the use of a whi-bal card or passport color checker would cure that anomaly.

Seventh shot is perhaps the best of the lot, but again, a closer crop and less headroom would, IMHO, make it better yet.

I like the last shot, but I have a question. While the bride is beautiful and quite formal, he looks a bit slobbish in a wrinkled white shirt, no jacket, tie. Perhaps that's the tradition. If so, I bow to it. If not, as the photographer perhaps you need to direct that portion a bit better.

And while Suzy chimed in here, she is sometimes too kind. And she knows I love her.

But others chiming in with critique of critique is wholly inappropriate and helps no one. If you like the images, say so. If you don't like them, state that.

Nicksan happens to be an accomplished photographer, having shot probably more than 50 weddings at this point. His critique comes from the heart, can sound a bit harsh at times, but is usually right on the money.

I agree with Nicksan and MDJAK on their C&C. The last image is the strongest IMO.

I always look forward to constructive critique when I post my images, how else will I learn?? I think some people need to stop being so sensitive. And koodos to the OP for handling the whole thread well and not going into defensive position. We are all here to help each other grow.

^^ Amen. Kudos to those who give C&C without attacking the photographer.

Bakewell, what's more productive? "Great shot!" Or "you may want to watch for X and X and I don't think X works here." Hmm? ???

As to the photos, they are lovely. I'm with most, I like #2 way more than #1, as I'm not a fan of selective coloring and never have been. But then again, I'm also not a fan of desaturated images, so it all depends on what you like (and your clients!). I will disagree with Nicksan on the vignette, though. Because I like a lot of vignette and don't think it's too much...

Keep posting, we love to see it! And ditto on handling the critique well! ;)

BTW, I just re-read my original post. I think I didn't make myself clear enough.

I think the images are strong and stylish, so my C &C was for some of the finer details here and there. Overall I think they are well done and definitely would like to see more from you.

OP, Nice shots, it may not appeal to everybody but your shots very nice but I agree with the color being not consistent.

1 Not a fan of selective color but some people and clients are. I love this one. great comp and pose
2 Nice image
3 The dress looks odd. It does not flow well.
4: Not a fan of the processing or the pose
5: I like the pose. Not a fan of the processing
6 Nice pose but I do not like the processing
7: I like this one. Again the processing is not working for me
8 : Love the comp as Nik pointed out, Not flattering to the groom.

Overall I think it is a very nice set. The Overprocessing kills it for me.

Back on track, guys. I may have to close this thread and it would not be fair to the OP.
