If people could post some landscape shots and let me know what kind of lenses you've used to get them that would be great! I'm looking for a new lens for landscapes and would love to see what kind of results different lenses give.

Jul 07, 2011 09:47 | #3 Probably not as much difference as you might think there will be at web resolutions, here are few taken with various lenses Ive owned in the past or have today. I love my Zeiss 21 and 70-200, but the two EF-s lenses performed better on my 40D than the 17-40 did on my 5D.

The glint of light from the setting (or is it rising) sun on the lower left rock is just a beautiful highlight, and the incoming waves have the perfect amount of motion blur. The whole scene just pulls me right in. I have the Zeiss 18, and I just love their lenses. I fell in love the second I pulled it out of the box (the construction is just a work of art), and I hear the 21mm is an even better lens (though a little wider than what I was looking for). . .not that you can go wrong with anything in their lineup.

Jul 10, 2011 17:43 | #5 Thanks - glad you like the shots. That is actually a sunrise, its one of my favorites in my collection. The Zeiss 21 is absolutely amazing - I love that lens and has me completely addicted to zeiss glass. Im thinking of dumping my 70-200 in favor of the 50 MP or 100 MP, but I'm not quite ready yet...thats a pretty flexible lens. Sure wish I could afford to have both around! No disrespect intended but we're seeing some great PP work as well as great eyes. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

Here are two that demonstrate both ends of the spectrum... Incredibly true. Virtually any focal length can be used for landscape. If you read through the gear lists and photo descriptions in most landscape books you'll find virtually every FL represented. My personal favorites: 24 TS-E II, 24-105, and 70-200 II plus TCs.
