I've been using this brand for nearly 40 years now and have owned the last set for nearly thirty of those. Decided this year to get an upgrade when one of these oldies give up the ghost and the cost of a replacement tube was more than I considered the head to be worth. Currently exploring the Profilux Plus range and enjoying them immensely (great re-cycle and duration times and unbelievable performance on their bespoke battery packs - i so need one of those) - I do get asked sometimes why I've stuck to Multiblitz as they seem overpriced compared to other brands - well they've never let me down (I have to stress that I don't use them as a pro) also, I have to say part of the answer is because I can't afford Bron ;)

I used to be a Multiblitz user.. When I had my studio in the 1980s I used Variolites 1000 and 500.

Great studio flashes,, incredibly reliable.. In ten years I never replaced a modeling light bulb.

I also had a set of Minilite 200 (x3) for portability.. They came in a beautiful self contained case.

At that time, they were equal to Elinchrom and Hensel monoblocs and better than Bowens.

I've been using the Minilite 200's until this year (bought a 10 pack of modelling lights in the 80's and have used 1in all that time) then I bought a Compact Plus to replace the Minilite that expired, but there was no way I was going to mount a 60 inch octo-box on this little thing!

So I then got a Profilux Plus to try, which although the same output has a better spec's in every other department (as you'd hope at the price premium) & much more substantial, but still small compared to many modern units and the Minilite's have finally been retired. Similar to the Elichrom BRXi's these can be controlled at the camera with a dedicated remote/trigger

which is now an essential item - just a shame it glitches with my Canon 10D body  and on shutter release just throws up the dreaded ERR99. So at the moment its only a glorified remote - I feel a new camera is on the horizon.
