My fiance and I are getting married in May 2012 next year in Cancun, Mexico and are looking for a photographer. I've been searching a little bit on my own, but haven't been thoroughly impressed with anything I've been able to find. Is anybody on here familiar with a great photographer in that area?

The photographers in our home town are pretty expensive already, not to mention the included cost of paying for them to fly out to Mexico with us to shoot the wedding. We figured local photogs in the area would be familiar with the area and more reasonably priced.

On a sidenote...I am interested in doing all of my Photoshop work and printing. Interested in someone shooting the wedding and handing over a bunch of RAW files on a disc. If someone can chime in on if they've ever done this for a client, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

How much are you budgeting? It doesnt help if we know someone that charges 200% more than you are willing to spend.

We're keeping the budget open. We're willing to spend more on quality images — a couple thousand ($3k – 4k?)

Hey there,

My wife and I married in Playa Del Carmen in November of 2010. If your interested in artistic photojournalism, we worked with Sascha Gluck and were more than satisfied with our result. He rates were awesome and he was a great person to deal with. I HIGHLY recommend checking him out. His blog is at cancunphotosblog.com.

If you have any particular questions, you can PM me!

M.

PS. I'm not a spammer, even though my whopping ONE post may make it seem that way.

There are about 5 photographers who's work I love so much and get inspiration from (and blog stalk constantly) and one is Elizabeth Medina and she just happens to be in Cancun! Her work is fantastic, I'd check her out and see if she's within your budget.

You can also fly in your own photographer from the US (usually for cost of travel and a photography fee that will make it comparable to hiring a local, but the bonus is you get to deal with a US based person after the fact). I've shot a few weddings in Cancun. :)

I should know this week if I'm booking a wedding in Cancun for May of next year (my couple is trying to figure out their date right now). What's the date of your wedding? If I'm already there, I'm sure we could work something out ;)

If interested...

I'm shooting a wedding in Cancun this November. The couple is spending less on me (including travel) than what you quoted, plus they're getting me for several days, not just one.

Check out my work. If you like what you see, lets talk.

We like Mexico, and we're open to working on a budget for a destination wedding. Sounds like images are important to you, but the thing with wanting RAW images might not sit well with a lot of photogs. Part of our vision is the end result, and a lot of that includes post processing.

Check out our work, let me know if you like it.

I'm curious... what photog did you end up using? can you share a couple of your big day?

thanks :)
