The Claw

I found a dead and dried out June Bug in one of my window sills that is always closed and curtained. It was totally dried out and it seemed that the insides had been eaten. It was very brittle. I was able to remove a couple of the legs and get them onto a slide. This is what was on the end of the leg. You can't see it here, but there are a double set of claws, side by side. In this orientation, one set on top of the other.

Thanks Rick and Brian. Too small to be dangerous, although if you let a June Bug crawl on you, you can feel them. Imagine trying to walk on them though. I guess that's why you only see them climbing on a tree or weed stalk.

Here's a stack of 11 shots taken with the polarizer. It didn't come out that good, but it does show the second set of side by side claws.

HAHA, yeah, I've said that about a lot of the things I see in the microscope. If we were not as big as we are, we would not last long in the wild.
