I was looking at LordBrian's post and it's ironic, because a wedding client (and co-worker) of mine was discussing this very thing the other night at work. She had ordered a 10x10 photo book. My question for her was, "Would you, as a wedding client, like to receive an iPad with the photos from the wedding?" She thought it would be a good idea. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Personally, I'd go for the iPad and ask for a photo album later on down the line. I'd pay for it of course. But this is also coming from someone who has knowledge of Apple products, software, and can construct a tangible album on my own. For the person who isn't tech savvy and couldn't tell you what version of Windows they're running, much less service packs on it to establish compatibility, a little more probing and quite possibly instruction from you may be part of the deal. That would be something to consider if you decide to offer an iPad in place of a tangible album: would you be comfortable giving a mini-lesson in how to utilize it? If you have no problem with spending extra time with a client to do this, then I say go for it. If tutoring is not your speed, you may have to figure out an alternate solution, like having someone else tutor the client.

I wouldn't mind offering some "how-to" advice. I'm sure there is an app out there that would perform in such a manner. Again, this is not something that I have actively pursued, yet.

I offer an iPad with one of my packages, along with an album.

Right now, you will be more likely to pull out your iPad (or bring it with you and pull it out) to show friends and family your wedding pictures. Plus it'll get used for other things so it's more practical.

But in 50 years that iPad will be scrap metal and your Grandkids will flip through you album to see how Grandma and Grandpa looked on their wedding day.

You mean technology goes out of style? I guess I better upgrade my Tandy T-1000. Very good point.
