So wondering how many people only use lightroom (and I guess only photoshop if that's the choice) for all of there pp work and no other third party noise reduction or sharpening software.

Personally I only use Lightroom as I find it pretty straight forward and simple to use and I don't do much photo manipulation apart from fine tuning tones, colours etc.

I print most of my photos to Blurb books and think they look great....and also print some out to frame and hang etc.
Am I really not getting the full potential of my pics by not using 3rd party software......

Hopefully there's others out there who only use LR as well.....just curious, that's all.....(guess it's in the eye of the beholder...)

:)

Well, I "mostly only" use Lightroom:)! Once LR was stabilized (I think Ver. 1.2), I made the leap and, over time, I found that I rarely needed to open a file in Photoshop (I do have CS3).

I should say, though, that this is for the type of photography I do and it's how I personally like to work. If I was doing, say, professional portraiture I'd likely have a lot more background tied in to using Photoshop for retouching photos -- I suppose the same could be said for weddings and other types of shooting. And, one thing that I have neglected for many moons is the fact that some of my landscape photography could likely benefit from either blending or HDR-type work, but I just haven't been motivated!

Another thing I should mention is that I do like to play around sometimes! Photoshop is fun to play with! Also, the Canon Raw processing software Digital Photo Professional (DPP) is fun to play with, and is in my opinion well worth learning enough so that you can occasionally use it -- it has some very cool features that enable nice snappy conversions when needed!

So, for "serious" processing and Library maintenance/order, Lightroom, but it's good to have a Photoshop-type app at hand when you need one, it's nice to have plug-ins when they help, and it's nice to have one or two "for fun" apps if they can do good things!

Nice Tony....I have Photoshop also but it just seems too mind boggling to learn to use....masking, layers etc.
Just don't know if I can be bothered....need some good tutorials I guess!!!

Mostly just LR for "reportage" style images.
Photoshop for images that need extended editing.

I did use LR but moved to a different RAW converter so now I use only Photoshop for image editing.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

^^^This! LR3... I only use CS3.3 when I have to use portraiture or noiseware plugins. LR3 has an awesome noise removal dial nowadays so I almost never use CS3. I recently purchased PSE 9 (Saturday) since I moved to a Macbook pro and I purchased LR3 on my Mac but didn't want to pay for CS5 on my mac. Since I done more research of PSE 9 it will be going back asap. I'll just go between Mac and PC (if I ever need too) since I still have CS3 and LR 2 on my desktop pc. Oh yeah I sometimes use Aperture 3 but rarely. It's just as good as LR3, but I'm more familiar with LR3.
