I have an Epson 2200 that has had a lot of use over the years, still love it BUT! Recently has started giving me problems. Erratically it will start to print then after an in inch or two it will just stop printing and eject the sheet of paper? Anyone had this problem? Would like to use that for an excuse to upgrade to a 3880 but it will be stretching my budget and would have to put off a lens purchase...help!

Sprung for a refurbished 3880, but still wondering if anyone had a similar problem with the 2200. If not too expensive a fix I might get it repaired for my sister. I live in the mountains of western NC and no local repair, hate to send it off with no idea of cost. Had to go for the new printer as I have several hundred prints of an African trip to print, so convinced the wife to get the 3880!

I have a friend that works for Epson. He has told me that to refurb a printer, it's in the 180.00 range.
The 2200/2100 was replaced by the 1400, (according to Epson). I have one of each. I prefer the 1400.

That said, you can watch places like Staples and get a new 1400 for 150.00 if the start align. That's what I paid for mine about 16 months ago.

I remember having the same problem at one time with my 2200. I don't remember what the fix was other than I didn't have to have it repaired.

Thought it might give you some hope. Sorry for lack of specifics.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
