I didn't go to Maui but to the Malidives on my honeymoon. I took my 5D II with 24-105mm f/4, 50mm f/1.2, 135mm f/2.0, 1.4x extender, 580ex II, and an S95. This set up ended up working great for us. I shot with my DSLR and the wife use the S95.

Why not leave the 10-22 since you're taking a tripod? You can use the 24-105mm instead by taking multiple shots and combining tehm into one panoramic picture. But then again, I haven't been to Maui so It would be tough for me to make that call.

135mm f/2.0 with a tele-converter worked out great since I was able to get two tele-photo focal lengths with minimal weight gain.

This is a time for you to focus on your new wife, not for you to play with your hobbies. Bring a pocket camera for some memory snaps and leave the gear bag at home.

I would have to agree, pictures are great but this is to celebrate 2 people. Bring both cameras. A scenario, your driving find a nice beach and you both would like to take a dip in the ocean. Leave your camera in the car, on the beach or one person at a time in the ocean.

How about a olympus waterproof and shockproof camera. it will always be with you to grab a moment!

Congratulations! Good to know, thanks.

Thank you, may i add one more thing, you may want to have a cheaper camera or a disposable camera when your by the water, beach, snorkeling etc etc. We purchased one of those for places that i was to chicken to take my gear, for memories. let me also add that you may want to try to enjoy the time with your wife more than taking photos, trust me ;) Enjoy and have fun.

Talk to your wife and ask her how she feels about bringing gear. My honeymoon was pretty laid back and we were there on vacation as much as anything--using all my equipment would have been appropriate.

If your wife is going to want constant attention then bring a compact. =)

I go to Maui almost every year for vacation, love it there. For the gear you have, take the wide-angle and 24-70. What part of the island are you staying at? If you need any info on the place PM me, I've probably been about everywhere on the island. Know all kinds of good places for cool pictures, and, ahem, places to take your new wife that will give you a beach to yourself... :)

Almost forgot- if you plan to do any "whale watching" or helicoptor tours, bring the 70-200 for that...

I've found that when there, I very rarely have more than a single lens on me, depending on what we're doing that day. Doesn't get in the way at all, I typically will just have my wife throw the 7D in her purse. :)

As you can already see you will get lots of different opinions. We get to Wailea about every other year. The resorts there are worth every penny.
Don't worry about room security. All the rooms are nice in this area and it's very safe.
I've taken the 70-200 but I never find much use for it in Hawaii even though it is one of my favorite lenses. In Hawaii I find I need far more reach or just a fast standard lens like the 24-70 or 17-55. The 1541 will be OK but as light as I'd want to go with a tri-pod as wind can be an issue.
From your kit I would take;

5D2
24-70
CPL/filters
Flash
Gitzo 1541
Remote release

If you want any input on the hotel or area feel free to send me a PM. Congrats and have a great time. Hawaii is a photographers paradise.
Enjoy!

Whale watching season is out now.

As far as leaving your gear in the hotel, dont worry, there will be safes where you can lock them in the room.

Bring your 24-70 and be done with it, enjoy the trip. This is why I am going to get the 24-105 so I can use one lens and still enjoy myself on a trip without worrying about a bunch of gear. To each his own though.

I went back in May and brought only the 24-105, a circular polarizer, some gnd's and a 580. I also brought my tripod, a Benro Travel Angel, but realized I forgot my remote triggers so I ended up leaving it in the hotel

I also bought two Joy Factory Rainballet waterproof cases for the iPhone 4. It worked great and let us spend a lot of time in the pool and ocean.

And even though I just sold it, I'm going to rent a 24-105 if I ever go back to Hawaii. Amazing lens

24-70 and polarizer, not too sure about Maui but crime is big on the big island.

Wailea is the deal. The Marriott Wailea Resort next to the outdoor mall is where we stay everytime we go. Great restaurants down there too. Nicks and Humu's to name a few....
