QUOTED IMAGE

Thats the only Nikon glass worth buying.

http://photojojo.com …someness/nikon-lens-mugs/ (external link)

I had the 5d for a good bit, i have a good write-up on it and a few of the cameras i owned after here : http://case-photo.blogspot.com …s-1ds-2-vs-canon-5d2.html (external link) Nowadays i'd spend extra on a 1ds2 if you can live with the antique FW amongst other things, or a 5d2 if you can live with center AF. I don't quite remember what i wrote, but the 5d wasn't a bad camera, the 5d2 offers quite a few advantages though and will last you much longer.

I'm sure there some other small features that i've enjoyed and used since my upgrade, but can't really tell. Oh the new LCD screen is better, nothing that would make me shell out 1k over but im not that much of a chimper.

I mostly use center AF and call it a day, the outer spots really are dodgy.

on the Nikon topic, i've actually thought about buying it, i need a good thermos, the handle is a good idea and id love to have a pack full of canon gear with a single nikon lens, it'd make for the perfect joke everytime : )

"Oh yeah nikon's the best. Isn't it amazing how it can hold my tea hot for like 20 hours!"

I wouldn't get the D700, its effing old. Now whatever comes to replace it, Maybe. I wouldn't mind switching really, i'd just have to see the exact prices involved in switching my lenses.

Reading that right now. Hmmm the dark horse 1DS 2 EDIT: Wait you said 1Ds 2 was no good? 5d < 1Ds2 <5D 2 is that how it goes for you?

FW?

Congrats! Looks like some fun toys for sure. :)

Full frame is the major difference. If you like to shoot wide open and have shallow DOF, getting a full frame camera makes a big difference. I don't recall if you have any fast aperture lenses though...

True enough. 5D is more slow and steady. Works fine for normal situations, probably not the best for action.

I have the 17-55 and 70-200 (I also have a 28-135mm sitting on my desk that I dont want to get rid of because it is sharp  ) Shallow DOF is fine for some things but not top 3 for me. I shot a lot of car stuff so I need to have small apertures f11ish most times smaller.

I am thinking 7D for action motorsports stuff.

If you already have a 7D and want the best possible IQ for more "studio" type shots of cars.

5d2.

With those lenses, no need to get a 5D. The 7D is a great camera, stick with that until the 5D III comes out. :)

If you want to save money, never buy yourself a 1series. It's impossible to go back.

<3 my 1DIV and I'm sure Martin will say the same.

That'd be too much to hope for really, but decent AF should be a given, will probably compare to the 7D more or less.

Better sensor is what is likely as well, the 5d1 was all about the sensor, and so is the 5d2. If you were to compare them to dMF, you'd be shocked at how well they AF :D

Yes this range usually is for many, which is why it's kind of surprising Canon isn't putting effort to be lead the class with it. Both Nikon and Zeiss versions are ahead.

I think if they did they would really put some pressure on the competition, i mean if Nikon release a high MP D700 successor with HD filming it will be hard to beat.

The 5D was really a game changer for Canon, just like the D3 was for Nikon.
