Woohoo new thread, Dave, the old thread will always stand proud with that finale.

Nice shot Kemzo, was the dish gridded? I like the bg pattern.

A few exciting bits of news for me. My BH order (the big list of doodads) has all been shipped and should (fingers crossed) be here by Friday.

Also, I placed my order with our local Elinchrom supplier and now have 2 x 600RX (with the skyport RX set), 70cm Baby Deep Octa, 2 x Wide Angle Umbrella Reflectors and a 2.75m roll of thundergrey seamless coming for Friday.

drop the hay!

that sure is a lot of gear and doodadary all in one shot

Thanks... No, it was not gridded.

Yeah, few bits and pieces :o. First time I've bought a significant amount of gear without buyers remorse, very, very excited.

True, and there's no way that I could have topped Dave's final post and photoshop mastery.

Now everyone be quiet, or Sigma will find us.

I'm surprised he hasn't already.. Dang 3 pages this quick! ?

Speaking of flame throwing monsters, any one had a problem using the small reflector and grids on a bigger head?
There only about 10mm of clearance between the modeling light and the grid. Could be heat issues?

Absolutely. I have one warped ass 22" BD grid sitting around somewhere.... Grids mean the ML needs to be turned off or only on for short periods of time.

Wow, I feel like a noobie in noobie land here.

BTW, I been doing my pushups and eating my Wheaties so I can lift my pole up and down with ease.

Wait, that didn't come out exactly right.

me

I think for your "application" you may want to try one of these out :

Talking about doodads! This isn't really photography related... but my laptop kept overheating while i was running a server off of it so i got out the bungee cords!

Thank god for photography introducing me to these, they rock :D Thats my tiny dressing & MU room btw, also serving as storage. (ie that furry rocking chair shouldn't be there....)

Congrats! You're starting to become our resident Australian gear buyer. That's quite the kit you've got coming in.

Shot with a single Digital Style 600rx and Elinchrom White Minisoft 17" Beauty Dish with a home made sock and team it up with my lovely DIY Tri-Lite.

Cool shot!

I'd hate to see how you'd set up a water cooled computer. Just break out the lawn sprinkler! :)

Lol, in my defense its only temporary, my power drill's battery died, i don't have a spare.

When its charged up, i plan on making a corner joint and strapping the laptop to the fridge.

On an elinchrom note, what are you thoughts on the Deep octas 27.5" and the 39" ? Seems like for location work the 27.5" would be easier and faster to work with ?

Hi Moppie. I use the 7" reflector with grids and I almost never use the modeling lights once I have things setup.

I, too, use the 7" reflector and grids...and on the times when I'm shooting with my 600RX's, I'm often using 7" reflector with grid with the modeling light on, all without issue.

Same here, 7" with grids. Good thing about 7" is that you can use the same grids with the Quadra Grid reflector (external link).

^^^ Is why I use 18cm (7") grids.

Re: modelling lights, will the standard one that comes with the RX600 be bright enough or would I be better off ordering a couple of brighter ones?
