I will get a picture of it tonight. You just pay the shipping if you want it.

Yeah they have a factory sale. They are like 10-15 minutes from my work. It was pretty bad ass. I forget how much I got all that you see for but i think it was less than 250

eh? [/canadian] What suggestion?

Yeah I could use a few more lights too :D

CONGRATS!!! dont stress over it too much. I have not burnt a fuse yet. I have used 220v for 6 hours at full pop and have had no problems.

you need to go take care of yourself :p

sweet! thanks for the info. So which ring should I order? The CL ring to attach to the box and then toss the Eli ring in the trash. Then order the chimera adapter to put in the CL speed ring?

Haha Sorry. CL is pretty cheap though and the grids are reasonable. Rob almost had me buying the chimera set up but the grid killed that deal.

w00t congrats.

hahaha sweet! yeah I just need more strobes and strips.

which one?

here was my stripbox suggestion for you

https://photography-on-the.net …?p=12743744&postcount=555

which requires this speedring

http://www.bhphotovideo.com …d_Ring_for_Elinchrom.html (external link)

if your not man enough and still want the CL strip, the chimera octo ring is the one conner is recommending

I like it, but it is very purpose built... it's not a versatile modifier like the 53" octa is.

I do too but I definitely like the way you're right in between stopping action and showing some movement. It works really well, in my opinion.

Hmm... these creative light modifiers are growing on me... for the price of a 39" rotalux DO you can get a similar octa and a 50° grid... curse you all, I'm trying to save for a BD....

I could see making the comparison between a standard (not deep) rotalux octa and another. I'm sure that you could produce the same light with the same results.

The Deep lightboxes do have a certain character that isn't always obvious but more people discover it and find it to be a special modifier.

I wouldn't discount the 39" Deep Octa because there is no grid. Instead, I would get one and use it where appropriate, and certainly use it on location where most often you don't want or need a grid, and also get another octa of your choice rather than something like the 53" Midi Octa, which is more of a generic box and would be a great box to use with a grid. The same is true of a smaller box.

At least that's how I see it. I'm sure there are some nice alternatives to the Elinchrom Deep Octa but that box in particular does have a reputation for a reason.

Just my buffalo nickel's worth.

So what is this "character" that the DO has over a non-deep octa? I can appreciate that there is a time and place for using an octabox with a grid and without, but as far as deep vs. non-deep, is it more of an efficiency thing, or is there a real difference in light shape/falloff/etc?

Cheers for the assurance, I've got the 220v version too, much better build than the dlite :)

What's with all the sexual innuendo in this thread?

Well I guess I won't ask if you like the deep throat octa then :o
