I don't think it is but everybody is entitled to his opinions. :)
I think the PCB/Balcar mount is even worse. ;)

It surely is a bad design, Leo. The fact that I've had modifiers nearly come off the mount and fall to the ground is proof enough. I shouldn't have to think or worry about whether I have the speed ring locked down or why direction I rotate the modifier.

It's just plain stupid.

Mine too. I set them to the matching channel so I can control them individually from the transmitter.

Yup, same here.

I know, was a bit late. I bought the Lightroom 2 just days before Lightroom 3 was announced. So didn't feel like spending more money back then. :)

does this have anything to do with the perceived slow rate of recycling ?

this sounds like a good justification argument to get a pack with a handle

I actually prefer the elinchrom mount over the Hensel. When I owned hensel, I was never sure whether or not it was fully seated, whereas you can't have that problem with Elinchrom. While there may be more wiggle/play, I don't find that really effects real world usage much (however none of mine have *that* much play).

In the end, there's nothing like profoto's mount. Their mount is reason enough to upgrade lighting, as it's not only 100% simple/secure, but it also allows you to "focus" the light within the reflector/modifier.

Honestly, if I were to upgrade it wouldn't be to a Ranger or other Elinchrom system. It would be Profoto.

Don't get me wrong, guys. My dislike for the Elinchrom mount is a relatively minor thing but something that does bother me.

Doubt it. That's a battery pack and battery packs recycle much slower than AC packs....unless, of course, the battery pack happens to be a Broncolor Verso. :D
